OEDA Awards Program

Calling all award applicants for the 2007 OEDA Awards of Excellence in Economic and Community Development. The purpose of the Awards of Excellence is to recognize exceptional and innovative economic development efforts in the State of Oregon. Not only will this highlight achievements, it will provide an opportunity for practitioners to learn about best practices throughout the state when the awards are presented during the OEDA Annual Conference in October.

2007 Award Categories

Outstanding Collaborative Partnerships: This award recognizes a project that has helped a community, region or partnership to overcome economic challenges and demonstrate vision, leadership and teamwork. Applicants could include a business, community, non-profit or government entity that has organized a partnership to address key community readiness issues, regional considerations and new challenges that can only be resolved by facing the issues together.

Creative Marketing & Promotions: Awards in this category recognize outstanding efforts and achievements in economic development marketing and promotional campaigns and/or materials.

Best Website for Economic Development: This category will honor communities and organizations that are using the Internet as an effective marketing tool to promote city, port, county, or regional economic development organizations services and offer information to clients.

Business Development Success Story: Every economic development professional wants to help businesses succeed. This award category recognizes efforts to recruit new companies, assist with the expansion and/or retention of existing companies, resulting in new capital investment and/or jobs. Demonstrated creativity in structuring ‘win-win’ transactions/deals for both community and company will be evaluated.

Economic Development Leader of the Year: Recognizes a professional who has attained outstanding achievement and who has consistently supported the vision and goals of local and state economic development. The individual may have worked closely with the other development partners and organizations to address common issues and to creatively pursue economic opportunity in Oregon.
