Measuring Economic Development in the 21st Century
January 17, 2012
10:00 am - 11:00 a.m. PST

Presented by
Miles Friedman
Miles Friedman and Partners, LLC
Measuring the impact of economic development is an art...and a science. If handled effectively, performance measures can help guide the allocation of resources, protect a program from "meddling", avoid having outside interests redefining your program, help with mid-course corrections, and perhaps most importantly, support your funding requests. This session will provide information on how to accomplish these goals, and will explore the various options in gauging impact, the notion of performance measurement timelines and the management of expectations.
About the Presenter:
Miles Friedman's nearly 40 years in economic development have taken him to 49 of the 50 states, providing support for state and local economic developers. He headed the National Association of State Development Agencies for more than 25 years, created the Directory of Incentives for Business Investment, and has won national, state and local awards for his work. Friedman currently heads his own consulting firm, Miles Friedman and Partners, LLC.
